HISTORY If you turn the pages of the past you'll often find an unfinished story with a beginning, middle but no end. The pages may be fresh and new, filled with the smell of fresh paper and ink, or they may be damaged, folded over and over, smelling of dust. The first chapters of Yulia's story were written with an eerie precision, coming from concentration and practice. Moving from Russia to England, followed swiftly by an adult, introduced her to the complexities of both life and humans when she was too young to comprehend fully. Beyond a school life in which she was regarded more with confusion than respect, her development was remarkably normal. There were no outstanding events that shaped her nature. She entered scientific fields as soon as she could, studying and gaining a degree and position in her early twenties. The middle of Yulia's story began at age 21. Her relationship at the time, although intimate, was toxic and prone to explosive arguments in which she often emerged victorious. As soon as the word 'pregnant' slipped from her lips he was gone, barely a trace left behind, and Yulia found she didn't much care. The child was carried to term and raised fairly, albeit taking on some strange habits and expressions, Yulia appearing to become more 'everyday'.At four years old, during a typical crisis as simple as losing his mother in the shopping centre, her son was revealed to an abnormality. Yulia’s attention piqued and her son became the subject of experiments that lasted almost a year. With no previous knowledge she studied her first Enigma in as much depth as she could whilst preserving his life, her care and regard for him more of that she would hold for a pet. Eventually he passed away, no more than five years old, but Yulia was clever. She published her findings posthumously and ensured they were written from a mother, rather than a scientist. It was her knowledge and interest that spawned from her son – so much she owed him – that led to her placement at Stravend. PERSONALITY Every scientific operation will have the weird ones, it seems to be written into the terms and conditions signed upon formation. There can be one or many, but each is individual in their strangeness and, in this case, Yulia complies with the preset rules. Reckless and outgoing she's unafraid of approaching prisoners and often finds herself injured - her debt to the medical staff there is worth every penny in her eyes. Her curiosity leads her to spend much of her time out of staff areas, although her relationships with prisoners are possibly better than those with whom she actually works, occasional insensitivity making her enemies almost as well as her lack of morals and willingness to do whatever she feels will be the most interesting.
